Best place to stay in Lanzarote
The best place to stay in Lanzarote for nightlife is Puerto del Carmen (not a nightlife like Ibiza... best to say a lively place in Lanzarote).
The best area to stay in Lanzarote in december and January is Playa Blanca: the warmest resort in Lanzarote, the drier, hotter and sunniest place, perfect for beach life.
Lanzarote is an island to discover and explore by car, bike or trekking.
It is an ideal destination for those who want to disconnect from the city life, see beautiful landscapes, sunbathing...
Stay in Puerto del Carmen if you:
- Looking for cheap Accommodation (Souther part is more expensive)
- Need a starting point to visit the island (the position halfway between the North and South is ideal for getting around without changing accommodation.)
- Looking for nightlife: it is full of restaurants, pubs and shops. "Nightlife" not like Ibiza style but something more soft.
Stay in Costa Teguise for sightseeing in the northern part of Lanzarote.
- It is a tourist village, it has shops and restaurants in winter full of retirees people. "Pueblo Marinero" is considered the center of social life in Costa Teguise full of Bars and restaurants. It is characteristic.
Stay to Playa Blanca if:
- Are you looking for a relaxing holiday.
- Want to visit Fuerteventura.
- Looking for a place with tourist shops and restaurants.
- a good Beach where you can swim (Playa Dorata).
- Traveling with your family and children.
Like any capital, Arrecife town is NOT only for tourists but also to those who live and work there.
Arrecife is pretty connected to the bus station with a comfortable walk along the ocean and a park. The Reducto beach is wide, perfect for sunbathing.
Arrecife is suitable for those on a budget: the prices here are lower than in the South. It is a good starting point to visit the north of the island and visit the museums of the city. The bus station connects all the major cities of Lanzarote.

Where to Stay in Lanzarote to visit Southern attractions
Yaiza is a small village located in the southern area of Lanzarote, inland, and is the destination chosen by travelers looking for the most famous attractions: the Timanfaya National Park but also los Hervideros, El Golfo...
Yaiza is not a tourist place but a typical local village.
La Graciosa is an island visible from the Mirador del Rio that can be reached from Lanzarote. I suggest visiting La Graciosa for a night, just to completely immerse yourself in nature: a lunar environment with beaches not yet reached by mass tourism.

Caleta De Famara
The best place to sleep in Lanzarote for surfing is Famara.
Famara beach is worth a visit. I liked it a lot because it is wide surrounded by mountains that make the place suggestive. The town bordering the beach is frequented mostly by surfers, the atmosphere is hippy and relaxing. There are a couple of restaurants, shops that rent and sell equipment to practice this sport and a surf school.
This is also not the classic tourist resort but a place on a human scale surrounded by nature where there are cheap apartments to stay. It is located in the north west of the island and I recommend staying here only if you love to kitesurfing or surfing.
