Best canary island in november

Best canary island in november

which canary island to visit in november?

November where to go in Europe?

In general, the Canary Islands enjoy a mild climate all year round, with average temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. In November, temperatures are still pleasant, with a daily average of around 25 degrees. The Canary Islands with the mildest and most pleasant temperatures in November are Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Rainfall is low, so it is an ideal time to enjoy the beaches and outdoor activities.

hottest canary island in november
canary island in november

Hottest canary island in november?

Tenerife and Gran Canaria BUT in only in certain areas, let's see which ones.

Is it worth going to the Canary Islands in November?

Absolutely yes. The Canary Islands have a spring-like climate in November.

Tenerife in November tips

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands. It offers a wide range of attractions, historic towns, cultural sites and beaches. Popular attractions include the volcano El Teide, the beaches of Playa de las Amรฉricas and Playa de las Teresitas, and the colonial towns of San Cristรณbal de La Laguna and La Orotava.

Tenerife is a popular destination for families, couples and groups of friends. There are many shops, restaurants, entertainment areas and sunny beaches where you can take a dip even on New Year's Eve.

Tenerife in November where to stay?

Sunniest area in Tenerife

Be careful not to get the wrong place to stay in Tenerife as the climate is very different between North, South, East and West. If your main objective is 'beach life', sunbathing and enjoying the beach, the absolute best area is the south east of the island: the least windy and sunniest area. If I really have to be more precise I would say

If I had to be more precise, I would tell you to book accommodation between Playa Las America and Los Cristianos.

Gran Canaria in November tips

Gran Canaria is an island with a combination of different landscapes, including mountains (inland), beaches and the famous Maspalomas desert on the coast. This island is also a popular destination for families, couples and groups of friends whether looking for an all-inclusive holiday or a simple flat.

Best area to stay in november in Gran Canaria

Having bought a flat in Puerto Rico, a resort on Gran Canaria back in the day, I can safely say that it is the island with the best climate in the Canaries. The warmest and sunniest area of Gran Canaria in autumn-winter (I have visited them all) is in the south-west between Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogan

Oh I forgot, the rentals vacation homes are built without heating. This is to tell you that below a certain temperature you never go down (on the coast).

Lanzarote in November

Lanzarote is a volcanic island with unique and fascinating landscapes. It is known for its black beaches, lunar landscapes and the works of art and architecture by Cรฉsar Manrique (beautiful I recommend a visit). In November, Lanzarote is a popular destination for nature lovers and those who enjoy touring by visiting different attractions. On the nature attractions side, I consider Lanzarote the most beautiful island in the Canaries.

I would recommend a holiday in the summer months if you are looking for a classic beach holiday and for touring trips also October or November. Consider that in the worst case you cover yourself with a rain jacket. It doesn't get very cold. They are sub-tropical islands anyway. The wind and changing weather can be a nuisance, but the turbulence hardly lasts several days. Read more: Lanzarote where to stay.

Fuerteventura in November

Fuerteventura is a desert island with white, sandy beaches. It is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing.  In November, Fuerteventura is a popular destination for beach and water sports lovers and those who are not bothered by the wind. Personally, while I have enjoyed it, it is not the island I favour but only because I don't do water sports and the overly changeable weather makes me nervous.

I would recommend it for trips until October and then in summer.

Even then, the most annoying thing that can happen is wind and a bit of rain, they are sub tropical islands you never get below 15 degrees (and if it happens it is the exception not the rule). Wind and changeable weather can be annoying, so equip yourself with a spring windbreaker. Read more: Fuerteventura where to stay.

CANARY ISLANDS IN NOVEMBER TIPS

4 tips for choosing the best Canary Island among Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria:

  1. Consider your budget. Tenerife and Gran Canaria are the most expensive islands, while Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are cheaper.
  2. What do you like? If you are interested in nature attractions, surfing, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura are the best options. If you are interested in the classic beach holiday even in the middle of winter, Tenerife or Gran Canaria are the best options.
  3. Take into consideration the time of year. The Canary Islands are a popular destination all year round. In November, the temperatures are still pleasant and it is not yet as packed with tourists as it is in New Year, January and February.
  4. Book in advance. Flight and hotel prices tend to increase as you get closer to your travel date. If possible, book your trip in advance to get the best price.

LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND

LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND

People often ask me which is the least windy Canary island in december, winter season, and tips to choose the least windy resort of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or Fueteventura especially if they travel with children.

The least windy Canaries Islands are Gran Canaria and Tenerife but only in certain specific areas.

The bad news is that all the Canary Islands are windy BUT there are places more sheltered by wind and with beaches suitable in every season especially in the winter months (December, January and February).

Let's find out together.

least windy resort in the canary island
least windy canary island

I do not love places too windy: the wind annoys me a lot. For this reason, during my trips to Canary Islands, I always stay in resort sheltered from the strong wind. A sea breeze is pleasant, and inevitable if you're on an island but I avoid the places where the wind raises the sand and gets into my eyes.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: least windy area in Tenerife

The least windy area in Tenerife is in the South-East area the best resorts are Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.

Least windy area in Tenerife: Los Cristianos find an accomodation near the sunniest beach in Tenerife "Las vistas" or Read more ๐Ÿ‘‰ Best place to stay in Tenerife.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: least windy area in Gran Canaria?
The least windy area of Gran Canaria is located in the South-West. Municipality of Mogร n.

Least windy area in Gran Canaria: Puerto Rico. Find an accomodation near the sunniest beach in Gran Canaria "Playa amadores" or Read more ๐Ÿ‘‰ Best place to stay in Gran Canaria.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: Is Tenerife windy?
No doubt for me the Least windy area in Tenerife is Los Cristianos.

Tenerife is windy especially on the west coast (Garachico, Puerto de la Cruz ...). The best beach is "Las Vistas" in Los Cristianos, close to Playa de Las Americas.
Las Vistas beach is ideal for the children: no strong winds, not even dangerous waves.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: Is Gran Canaria windy?
If you want to go on Canary Islands in winter, and you are looking for the best place to sunbathe and swim in the sea, I suggest you to stay in Gran Canaria.
The windiest area of Gran Canaria is located in the North-east (airport area). Just below there is Pozo izquierdo well-known resort for surf lovers.
The least windy area of Gran Canaria is enclosed in the municipality of Mogan which includes several villages and the best known are:
  • Arguineguin,
  • Puerto Rico,
  • Tauro,
  • Puerto de Mogan...
The beaches are protected from strong winds.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: Is Lanzarote windy?
Yes, Lanzarote is windy. Is one of the windiest Canary Islands on a par with Fuerteventura. If you are looking for a sheltered and sunny beach in Lanzarote, you can stay in the South, in the area of Playa Blanca.

I did several trips to Lanzarote. The last one dedicated to the visit of Arrecife (the capital of the island), where the wind was so strong that it created waves so big that the coastal path to the Reducto beach has been closed. In a week I enjoyed 4 sunny days and 3 rainy days.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: Is Fuerteventura windy?
Yes, Fuerteventura is windy. The windiest period is August. If you are looking for the least windy resort in Fuerteventura, you can stay in Caleta de Fuste (the beach is enclosed in a basin) or in the South, in Morro Jable (Jandia Peninsula, Pรกjara).

is fuerteventura windy
Morro del Jable by Tripadvisor credit

Morro Jable is windy but in case of strong wind, the staff make barriers to protect the sun umbrellas by the wind and sand storms. The beach is really amazing, long and large.
Find an accomodation in the lively country in Fuerteventura "Caleta de Fuste" or Read more ๐Ÿ‘‰ Best place to stay in Fuerteventura.
Fuerteventura is the island of surfing! So it must be windy otherwise it would not attract many fans. It is not an island that I recommend to people travelling with kids, but if you love the natural environments, the huge beaches without borders, you should go in Fuerteventura. The wind is a blessing for Fuerteventura because the sun is hot and the risk of burns is not uncommon.

  • LEAST WINDY CANARY ISLAND: temperatures

Usually the temperatures in the Canaries are about 25 degrees, but it happens (at the end of summer) that the temperatures increase due to the Calima (hot wind mixed to sand coming from Africa). The sky, usually blue, becomes blue-grey due to the sand carried by the wind. Fortunately they are sporadic episodes which last even 1 or 2 days. Although the sea temperature is not as mild as the Mediterranean Sea, it is pleasant to swim, especially if you live in northern Europe.

maspalomas is windy?
Playa del Ingles - Maspalomas beach

Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles have milder temperatures. This places are not always windy, depending by the period. Some day is almost impossible to stay on the beach cause the wind raises the sand and this bothers.
In these days is possible stay behind the dunes, downwind, or, if you prefer, take the bus, or car, and drive for 15 km towards Anfi del mar, Puerto Rico, Amadores...

WHAT TO SEE IN LANZAROTE? Things to visit ๐ŸŒด

Here the list of the most visited attractions in Lanzarote:

    what to see in lanzarote

Thank you if you use my links to book your holidays in the Canary Islands.

    LANZAROTE TOP ATTRACTIONS

Lanzarote is an island that I love very much for its Nature and inusual attractions. So this is my list of best things to see in Lanzarote:

Lanzarote, like the other Canaries, is an island that is totally focused on tourism, but it has not lost its cultural heritage, and has known how to promote environmental protection thanks also to Cรฉsar Manrique.

Go to Lanzarote if you love: lunar landscapes, deserts, white houses and vegetation.

    things to see in Lanzarote

If you like any type of marine sports activity, this is your place, but also if you are about beaches and relaxation. And it is that more than two million tourists visit Lanzarote every year , being the high season from December to February , when the weather in the rest of Europe is wintry, here they enjoy an eternal spring.

    Puerto del Carmen

The largest tourist center on the island of Lanzarote, is a group of apartments, buildings, restaurants, bordering the sea and several beaches, for the enjoyment of the tourists. Here we have discos, pubs and lounge bars on Avenida de las Playas, where you can stay if you looking for nightlife.

It is worth visiting it at sunset, and ending up having dinner in one of its many restaurants.
    LANZAROTE THINGS TO VISIT

    Playa Grande

The largest beach in Puerto del Carmen is a stretch of golden sand of more than a kilometer full of umbrellas and sunbeds.
    Very busy in high season.

    Lanzarote best accommodations

    Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is a Lanzarote town belonging to the municipality of Yaiza. It is oriented towards the neighboring island of Fuerteventura. It is the area of Lanzarote where the highest temperatures tend to occur. The favorable climatic conditions make Playa Blanca one of the main places to take holidays in the winter period, in Lanzarote.

    Thins to visit in Lanzarote

    Mirador del Rio

At the top of the Risco de Famara, very close to the northern tip of Lanzarote, we can enjoy the panoramic viewpoint created by Cรฉsar Manrique.

    Things To Do In Lanzarote

From this beautiful vantage point we can contemplate one of the most beautiful landscapes of Lanzarote, with a privileged view of the El Rio Strait and the Chinijo archipelago, with the nearby island of La Graciosa. To which we add the careful architecture of the viewpoint, and it is that only the building is well worth the visit of this place. It is one of the classic visits to see in Lanzarote.

    Cueva de los Verdes

Attratcions in Lanzarote for those who love to deep in the heart of the earth (not suitable for claustrophobics.

One of the most incredible natural landscapes on the island and one of the essentials in our nature section to see in Lanzarote. This cave open to visitors, has its volcanic origin, when between 3000 and 5000 years ago, the La Corona volcano erupted.

The layer of lava formed a series of tunnels and caves of which a small part can be visited.

    Haria

This rural house surrounded by a palm grove, was designed by Cรฉsar Manrique combining with great taste.
This traditional town located in a valley, houses the House Museum of the artist Cesar Manrique. For those who want to know more about the artist, they can visit what was his home until the last day of his life.

The museum introduces us to Cรฉsar Manrique through more than 1,500 objects , among which there are works of art, work tools, unfinished works...

    Teguise

Teguise is one of the oldest towns on the island and is considered one of the most beautiful in the interior of Lanzarote. Founded in the early 13th century, its quiet, white streets convey peace if we visit it on a daily basis.

On Sunday mornings a market is held in Plaza Clavijo and Fajardo where you can find attractive craft stalls.

    Castle of Santa Barbara (Teguise)

This 16th century fortress - museum, dominates the citizens of the nearby town of Teguise from the heights of the Guanapay Mountain.

Inside there is an ethnological museum that tells the story of the canaries who emigrated to the American continent centuries ago.

The views of the valley and Teguise are well worth a visit to this place.

    Jameos del Agua

A cave that hides a cenote. Gorgeous!

This is one of his masterpieces to see in Lanzarote, my prefer. In 1966 the artist decided to promote the volcanic landscapes of the island, and created a set that mixes the union of natural space with his great architectural taste. In it there is an underground garden, restaurants, a museum, an auditorium and a beautiful swimming pool.
Best Things To Do in Lanzarote

    Salinas de Janubio

Long ago when the salt industry was of great importance in the Canary Islands, the salt flats were another part of the landscape of the islands. Currently, the Salinas de Janubio are the last salt flat in the archipelago , and it offers us a landscape of colors and geometric shapes.

    Los Hervideros

To the south of Timanfaya and near the road that goes to El Golfo from the Salinas de Janubio, Los Hervideros are located , a natural formation of volcanic inlets and vents , formed of petrified volcanic lava . If the sea is strong, the spectacle is greater.
    What's Lanzarote famous for

    Timanfaya National Park

It could be said that the most impressive natural visit to see in Lanzarote is that of the Timanfaya National Park.

This “ Martian ” landscape was formed between 1730 and 1736 with the volcanic eruptions that occurred on the island and that transformed the landscape from east to west . Today the volcanoes are inactive, but the soil in some areas emanates a lot of heat and therefore visits must be done guided.

    What is good about Lanzarote

    Famara beach

A small town (Caleta de Famara) that lives by and for water sports. Shops and schools everywhere fill its streets along with bars.

Famara beach is said that it is the most beautiful beach in Lanzarote. And this is so for two reasons: because of the mountain in the background as if it were a beautiful theater curtain. And because of the sunlight, which makes one of the best times to visit it at sunset.

    tourist attraction in Lanzarote

As a beach it is not one of the quietest to enjoy an afternoon with an umbrella and a towel, since the strong winds and the force of the sea make it more appropriate for water sports such as kitesurfing.

    Costa Teguise

This tourist town designed in 1970 to house the tourism with the highest purchasing power, is the perfect place to take a walk around its Pueblo Marinero (designed by Cรฉsar Manrique) and enjoy the dozens of places to dine and have a drink.
Much less "crowded" and quieter than Playa del Carmen, the restaurants and streets of Costa Teguise have the charm of minimalist design and good taste for simplicity, but without losing the animation of the good leisure areas.

There are markets that are organized one day of the week. When we went in June it was Wednesday and there was a lot of atmosphere.

    top attractions lanzarote

You can also enjoy Playa de las Cucharas, which although its waters are very calm, the wind blows a lot.

Costa Teguise is much quieter than nearby Puerto del Carmen, it also has a great selection of restaurants, bars and pubs.

Playa Blanca : If our budget is higher , we can visit the Puerto Deportivo Marina Rubicรณn . Exclusive bars and restaurants for those who want a more cachet nightlife.

Arrecife : it is the perfect place if what you want is to know the local tastes when going out. There are places for all ages and this animated by all kinds of musical styles .

    Cactus Garden

Created by Cรฉsar Marique, it is a mixture of a Zen garden with a sculptural museum, all made with hundreds of species of cactus, both indigenous to the Canary Islands, as well as America and Africa.

We can also visit a restored traditional windmill inside.
unusual things to do in lanzarote

    Papagayo Beach

Perhaps the most famous of the Ajaches beaches is Playa Papagayo, a small cove surrounded by cliffs and with turquoise blue waters.

places to visit in lanzarote by car

It has several services such as parking and a small restaurant.

To get to all these beaches that we have told you about, we will have to walk along sandy paths that start from the car parks, but they are well equipped.

    Charco de los Clicos

Next to the town of El Golfo, the Charco de los Clicos is one of the images to see in Lanzarote.

This small green lagoon, separated from the Atlantic by a beautiful black beach, can be enjoyed from the viewpoint in the town of El Golfo.

places to drive to in lanzarote

    El Golfo

To the west of the Timanfaya National Park is the small town of El Golfo.

It is a fishing village with many restaurants to enjoy the varieties of delicacies that the sea delights us with, and an ideal stop to eat if we come to see the Timanfaya National Park.
If we do it at sunset, we can also enjoy the sunset .smile

It gave us time to relax, visit everything we have told you, and above all bring us a very good taste of this wonderful island.

Lanzarote is NOT the hottest Canary island in the winter season. If you looking for a warmer area, stay to Los Cristianos (Tenerife) or Puerto Rico / Mogan (Gran Canaria) the hottest areas of the Canaries in winter.

Do NOT go to Lanzarote in winter season if:

      - You hate the wind. The wind is not constant, sometimes it is completely absent.
      - You are looking for a lively nightlife (Better Tenerife).
      - Looking for a warm place in the winter season even if is very rarely the temperatures go below 15 degrees (the average is around 20').

      - Need a starting point to visit the island (the position halfway between the North and South is ideal for getting around without changing accommodation.)
      - Looking for nightlife: it is full of restaurants, pubs and shops. "Nightlife" not like Ibiza style but something more soft.

      Costa Teguise

Stay in Costa Teguise for sightseeing in the northern part of Lanzarote.

      - It is a tourist village, it has shops and restaurants in winter full of retirees people.  "Pueblo Marinero" is considered the center of social life in Costa Teguise full of Bars and restaurants. It is characteristic.

      Playa Blanca

The Southern area of Lanzarote is slightly warmer and less windy than the rest of the island but, in my opinion, for the winter season is better to go in Gran Canaria in the South West countries.

      Stay to Playa Blanca if:

      - Are you looking for a relaxing holiday.
      - Want to visit Fuerteventura.
      - Looking for a place with tourist shops and restaurants.
      - a good Beach where you can swim (Playa Dorata).

Like any capital, Arrecife town is NOT only for tourists but also to those who live and work there.
Arrecife is pretty connected to the bus station with a comfortable walk along the ocean and a park. The Reducto beach is wide, perfect for sunbathing

Arrecife is suitable for those on a budget: the prices here are lower than in the South. It is a good starting point to visit the north of the island and visit the museums of the city. The bus station connects all the major cities of Lanzarote.

      Caleta De Famara

The best place to sleep in Lanzarote for surfing is Famara.

Famara beach is worth a visit. I liked it a lot because it is wide surrounded by mountains that make the place suggestive. The town bordering the beach is frequented mostly by surfers, the atmosphere is hippy and relaxing. There are a couple of restaurants, shops that rent and sell equipment to practice this sport and a surf school.

This is also not the classic tourist resort but a place on a human scale surrounded by nature where there are cheap apartments to stay. It is located in the north west of the island and I recommend staying here only if you love to kitesurfing or surfing.

      Yaiza pueblo

Yaiza is a small village located in the southern area of Lanzarote, inland, and is the destination chosen by travelers looking for the most famous attractions: the Timanfaya National Park but also los Hervideros, El Golfo...

Yaiza is not a tourist place but a typical local village.

      La Graciosa

La Graciosa is an island visible from the Mirador del Rio that can be reached from Lanzarote. I suggest visiting La Graciosa for a night, just to completely immerse yourself in nature: a lunar environment with beaches not yet reached by mass tourism.
