Sunniest part of Gran Canaria

The sunniest part of Gran Canaria is located in the municipality of Mogan. Puerto Rico is the most touristic town in this area. A very popular destination among European tourists who come here to spend the winter.

Puerto Rico

Excellent strategic town located in the sunniest and warmer part of Gran Canaria near the 3 most beautiful beaches of the island, sheltered from the wind, with a lively centre full of restaurants, shops and a pleasant sea promenade. 

Very touristic country enclosed between 2 valleys that make it one of the warmest countries on the island. A must in winter. Strategic point to see the most beautiful beaches in the south of Gran Canaria.

Puerto Rico has a shelter beach and is located in the middle between 2 very crowded beaches (Playa Amadores and Anfi beach) respectively 3 and 5 km away (by car) accessible by bus or even on foot.

To know: Puerto Rico has not enough free parking lots so if you rent a car, at the airport, it is better to choose an accommodation that has parking included.

Playa de Amadores

Amadores is a fraction of Puerto Rico. There is no a square but many tourist residences and hotels that rise in this valley adjacent to Puerto Rico. It is completely perched on the hill and all the buildings that rise in this area surround the beautiful beach, as you can see in the image below.

From this beach you can enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and Tenerife and fantastic sunsets so I recommend it as a destination for a romantic vacation.

ANFI DEL MAR

One of the most beautiful beaches in Gran Canaria. Anfi del Mar is an exclusive resort of private accommodations.

There are not many hotel or apartment available near this beach and some are not accessible to all budget like Radisson Blu Resort Gran Canaria. 

The alternative is to stay in nearby Puerto Rico and get to Anfi beach by car or bus (just 5 km far away).

You can find a comfrotable parking lot just before arriving at the Anfi beach (affordable prices: around € 4 per day). Umbrellas and sun beds can be rented for the whole day or just half a day otherwise you can laid down the beach.

 Puerto De Mogan

Small fishing port, very charming and colourful. Suitable for families and perfect in the coldest months of January and February. 

Puerto de Mogan is different from the other places mentioned: it is very characteristic with its white houses and beautiful flowers on the balcony. I really like this place that I consider to be on a human scale. 

There are beautiful aparthotel residences with tropical gardens not so far  the beach  and the historic centre of Puerto de Mogan has not lost its typical local taste. 

When I visited Gran Canaria for the first time, I wanted to buy an apartment here but at the end I find one in Puerto Rico that is become my holiday destination, it is perfect for a winter break.
