Yes it is. Last Palmas worth a visit. I recommend staying a few days in Las Palmas in February during the famous Spanish carnival. The city comes alive with parties, allegorical floats, music on the streets and it is pleasant to be part of it.

- Las Palmas is a cosmopolitan city, there is a university and many Europeans come for Erasmus. A lot of North Europeans retired people live in Las Palmas and it is a good base for digital nomads.
- Plenty of shops, restaurants, clubs... The main street of Las Palmas is "Calle Triana". It is a lively place.
- The 2½-mile Playa de las Canteras — is an attractive urban shoreline.
- The old town is very interesting, by the Cathedral and very enjoyable.
CONS
North East of Gran Canaria is the windiest part, so often rain heavy clouds will empty on the North of the island while the southern tip stays bathed in sunshine. The North being a few degrees cooler than the South.
